FakeNews Reaction:

Mainstream media outlets quickly manufactured an elite media panic, displaying deep outrage over the fact that a Christian church had the audacity to symbolically destroy Satan. Instead of reporting on the gospel message, biased “fake news” journalists fixated entirely on defending the devil’s dignity, feigning moral horror over a routine vacation Bible school play while routinely ignoring actual violence in secular culture.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — A Kentucky church is vigorously defending a viral Vacation Bible School skit that featured a mock firing squad executing a personification of the devil, calling the aggressive performance a spot-on and necessary biblical lesson for today’s youth.

The dramatic demonstration at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church drew intense secular criticism online, but leadership and conservative Christian supporters maintain the high-energy display was a biblically sound tool to teach children how to fiercely resist sin.

The controversial video, which circulated widely across TikTok and Facebook, shows adults in military-style camouflage gear utilizing airsoft rifles to repeatedly “shoot” an actor portraying the devil. Children in the pews can be heard chanting, “Take him out, blow him up!” before the actor is carried out to the simulated sound of an explosion.

Pastor Dewayne Walker addressed the public “firestorm,” stating that critics completely weaponized a small, out-of-context video clip. He emphasized that the “Commandos for Christ” characters and their symbolic “gospel gun” have successfully engaged the next generation at the church for 32 years.

Supporters argue the dramatic presentation provides vital visual storytelling that anchors young minds to biblical principles like James 4:7, which commands believers to resist the devil. While acknowledging the imagery is extreme, church leadership argued the tactics match the severity of the spiritual warfare facing modern children.

“You may think it was a little bit extreme, and maybe you’re right,” Walker said in a video response. “But don’t you believe that the devil is really using extreme measures in this generation?”

The presentation faced sharp pushback from local secular groups, including gun safety advocates from Moms Demand Action, who labeled the simulated tactical raid an abuse of a youth space. Mainstream media coverage and critics on platforms like Reddit focused heavily on the mock weaponry, calling the performance traumatic.

In response, defenders of the ministry state that true child protection means equipping youth spiritually to defeat sin and demonic influence. Walker expressed regret to anyone genuinely offended but noted that the true intent was to give children an uncompromised, joyful, and realistic view of overcoming spiritual adversaries.

The church says it does not plan to alter its three-decade tradition of teaching youth to hate the devil and stand firm in their faith.
