GREEN BAY — Six candidates — four Republicans, one Democrat, and one independent — are vying to replace Andre Jacque in the Wisconsin Senate. (Republican Kell Bales announced on May 25 he is suspending his campaign.)

Five of the six candidates — Republicans Katie Baney, Barb Bittner, Nic Cravillion, and Jacob VandenPlas and Independent Mark Becker — have confirmed their participation.

Sen. Jacque served the 1st Senate District for eight years (2019-2026), and prior to that served in the state Assembly for eight years (2011-2019). He was a steadfast conservative, and his margins of victory over the years suggest that’s the kind of Senator his constituents expect.
