Democrat congressional candidate Adam Hamawy defended far-left streamer Hasan Piker’s “America deserved 9/11” comments in an interview posted Thursday, insisting the remark should be kept “in perspective.” - Hamawy is a retired Army surgeon and the Democrat nominee in New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District. He made the comments in a friendly online interview with Walter Masterson. Piker endorsed him and rallied for him before the June primary. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) backed him as well.
- Asked about Piker’s 9/11 line, the New Jersey Democrat suggested the streamer deserved slack.
- “I think we have to put it all in perspective. And I do believe he regrets saying that,” Hamawy said.
- The candidate added that he backed Piker regardless.
- “I still love the guy though,” Hamawy said.

Dems slammed El-Sayed for the comments Monday, but he did not budge when pressed during debate
Democratic U.S. Senate candidate in Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed, declined to apologize Monday night for his “ogre on a pike” metaphor after critics from both parties condemned the leaked remark as violent and, in some cases, sexist.
Pressed during the final primary debate before next week’s election, over whether he regretted the rhetoric, El-Sayed defended the substance of his comments before revealing whom he had been referring to — and it was not primary opponent Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich.
“I was referring to a guy named John Fetterman,” El-Sayed said, accusing the Pennsylvania Democratic senator of getting elected on one set of values before “completely throwing those values in the mud.”
GRETCHEN WHITMER ENDORSES MODERATE HALEY STEVENS IN TIGHT UPCOMING SENATE PRIMARY
The controversy stemmed from comments El-Sayed made during a recent Zoom meeting with donors, Politico reported, adding that El-Sayed was discussing how to use his victory in Michigan’s upcoming Aug. 4 primary and the November election to build a national platform to move the Democratic Party further left and support future primary challenges, such as against Fetterman.
Black Lives Matter Mob in Madison Blocks Entrance to ‘Racist Bar’
- It’ll be a week TODAY since Madison, Wisconsin police shot and killed career criminal Corey Ruiz, who, while fleeing from the police on his bicycle, pulled out a knife and stabbed one of the officers. We’ve since read hot takes like, if someone is coming at you with a knife, shoot the knife out of their hand—don’t shoot them in the head. It’s like President Joe Biden advising police departments to train their officers to shoot suspects in the leg.
- As we reported, Black Lives Matter protests have come back in force, with people setting up barricades on streets with their bicycles and surrounding people in the cars. Police have essentially ceded control of the streets to the mob.
- Here’s video of a man trying to get into what one protester calls a “racist bar.” We’re not sure what makes the bar racist other than remaining open for business.

- Debt, Drama, and the Democrat Party Debt, Drama, and the Democratic Party
Paranoia and chaos overtake the party– nyone who has ever been in financial trouble knows that a debtor’s last resort is putting up his or her home as collateral. And that’s exactly what the Democratic Party has done. Several news outlets yesterday (July 27) maintained the party is strapped for cash and delaying payments to vendors until the midterms are over. This was splashed on the pages of The New York Times: “Inside the Phone-Throwing Drama at the Troubled, Broke Democratic Party.” And that’s just the headline.
The Times’ subtitle indicated there was more chaos going on at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters: “The Democrats should be well positioned to make gains in this year’s midterms. But inside party headquarters, every week brings paranoia, worries about money and, on occasion, emotional eruptions.”
Part of the problem, according to The Times’ sources, is that the Republicans are rolling in greenbacks or, in their words, the Dems are “getting crushed in fund-raising.” According to Joseph Chalfant over at Townhall, the Democrats mortgaged their DC HQ for a cool $15 million. But this is just to keep the lights on and the Wi-Fi connected.

- Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) reportedly had some sharp words for Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) Monday, accusing the Utah Republican’s push for a vote on the pending August recess of “demoralizing” the GOP base and being motivated out of “self-aggrandizement.”
- Cornyn has seemed less willing to bite his tongue amidst internecine party squabbles after losing a viciously contentious primary battle to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), who was endorsed by President Donald Trump.
- He might be headed out the exit door next January, but due to his long tenure in the Senate and seat on several key committees, he still wields substantial power. In recent weeks, Cornyn has declared he is “undecided” on Trump’s troubled Attorney General nominee, Todd Blanche, and poured ice-cold water over the chances of the SAVE America Act passing.
- But Trump and his allies are loudly pushing for the SAVE America Act, with the president frequently mentioning the legislation during press conferences and rally speeches.
- On Monday, Lee tweeted that the Senate should move forward with the SAVE America Act next month, repeating previous calls he has made to skip the August recess.

- The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court on Monday to let the president’s mail-in voting executive order take effect ahead of the midterms, after a federal appeals court sided with Democrat-led states seeking to keep it blocked just months before Election Day.
- Trump signed the order in March, directing the Postal Service to restrict delivery of mail-in ballots in states that refuse to hand over lists of eligible voters. It also orders the Department of Homeland Security and Social Security Administration to compile lists of verified absentee voters for the Postal Service to reference, and threatens to withhold federal funds from states that do not comply, part of a larger effort by the president to tighten a mail voting system he has long argued is vulnerable to abuse.
- A federal judge in Massachusetts blocked the order in June, ruling that its timing made it impossible for the Postal Service to propose the rule through proper channels and would deny Congress its required chance to weigh in. The 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld that ruling Saturday, rejecting the administration’s appeal and leaving the order blocked in the 23 states and Washington, D.C., that sued to stop it.

- It is generally appreciated that DEI and CRT have infiltrated the profession of medicine and have become thoroughly entrenched in its education system. - Maibach is an internationally known dermatologist who, at the age of 94, remains an emeritus professor of Dermatology at University of California San Francisco (UCSF), where he has been on the faculty since 1961. In his 63-year career in academic medicine, he has authored or co-authored over 3000 scientific journal articles and has contributed to over 150 books. He has mentored hundreds of physicians and medical students in training. Concentrated in the fields of toxicology, pharmacology, contact dermatitis, environmental skin disease, and occupational health, his decades of clinical research have resulted in bringing to market or refining many products used today by millions of consumers and physicians worldwide. - Seattle Mayor’s Shambolic Presser Draws Outrage in the Aftermath of Tragic Food Festival Shooting
There was a horrific shooting at the Bite of Seattle food festival over the weekend. On Sunday, two suspects reportedly engaged in a gun battle. It turned the last day of the festival into a mass casualty event. Three people were killed, and another four were wounded. Two handguns were recovered, with a 15-year-old suspect being apprehended. Another person of interest, described as a “young person,” remains at large. Mayor Katie Wilson is a socialist who has never run anything in her life, and it showed Sunday night.- The press conference was a mess, delayed by hours, with municipal and state officials caught up in a blame game sparked by the Seattle Police Department. They claimed the delay was due to the arrival of dignitaries participating, namely Gov. Bob Ferguson and Rep. Pramila Jayapal, though they were only informed of a press conference until after 10 PM. Wilson then spoke a little before 11 PM (via Seattle Times):

- Deadly Seattle shooting: Arrested suspect is just 15 years old; cops say there were 2 other suspects
- In an update to the Seattle shooting that took three lives Sunday evening, it turns out the initially arrested suspect is just 15 years old — and police now are saying there were two other suspects: one who died at the scene and was an acquaintance of the teenage arrestee, and another unknown suspect, the Associated Press reported.
- “Based on the evidence at the scene, investigators believe” the 15-year-old “and one of the deceased engaged in a gunfight with at least one other unknown suspect,” according to a document filed in juvenile court in Seattle
- Mayor Katie Wilson said at a news conference that the arrested 15-year-old was being held in juvenile detention for investigation of firearms violations and first-degree assault ahead of a Monday afternoon court appearance, the outlet reported.
- Authorities earlier Monday said they’re still looking for an additional suspect but could not rule out the possibility that individual was among those killed, the AP added.
- “We are trying to identify who that person is,” Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes said, according to the outlet.
- DAILY CALLER ‘Unsustainable’: American mayor pushes to tax city even harder as businesses run for the hills—‘We are at a fragile point. It’s important to note we have not grown jobs in the last 3 years’
- Socialist Democratic Seattle mayor Katie Wilson is pushing to increase sales tax her city to expand bus services — during a time when businesses are rapidly leaving the city.
- Seattle voters will decide in November on increasing sales tax by 0.3% to fund additional bus services and funding free transit passes for low-income families. Democratic Seattle City Councilman Robert E. Kettle sent a letter to Wilson highlighting his concerns over the project given that the city is facing a $175 million budget deficit, according to Komo News.
- Seattle’s projected budget deficit is $175 million even though voters have had additional property taxes for separate programs every year for the past six years, per Kettle’s letter.

- SOCIAL- A Permit To Have Friends Over – to party – but not to pray.
- In Ohio, the current standard is that your friends can come over to party without a permit but not to pray. That can’t be right.
- Someone got wind of a dozen guys getting together at a neighbor’s house and complained to the mayor of the town to “put a stop to it.”
- I left out one crucial fact in this scenario: it was a gathering of Orthodox Jews, for the purpose of prayer. It seems obvious to me that this was the so-called problem. And we’ll go over why, but first, the particulars.

She also stated that, after the mutual number one interest of eliminating Iran’s nuclear program, the interests of the U.S. and Israel “kind of diverge. Because [Prime Minister] Netanyahu has said, well, they want regime change. President Trump has said, no, not necessarily.” McFarland began by saying that it’s “not a bad thing the longer this war goes on, at least economically, for the United States.” And whenever the price of oil hits around $100 a barrel, there’s a ceasefire and the price falls while the U.S. builds up military resources in the region in the meantime.

Bryan Kohberger, right
- A man who pleaded guilty in 2025 of murdering four University of Idaho students is now claiming his confession was coerced and is seeking a trial to prove his alleged innocence.
- Bryan Kohberger, a criminology student serving four life sentences for the 2022 murders, told The New York Times on Sunday that he filed a petition to challenge the conviction and verdict, referencing purported issues with how the plea deal came together.
- “My actual innocence is my truth, and the plea, hinged on by false promises and blatant disinformation, MUST be withdrawn,” Kohberger told the New York Times on Sunday night.
- The prosecutor’s office and Kohberger’s defense attorney did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
- Kohberger claimed that he was “absolutely” innocent in a phone call to the Times.
- Post-conviction challenges are rare and typically derive from new evidence or poor counsel, according to the outlet.
- In June 2025, Kohberger pleaded guilty on all counts for the 2022 murders of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin.
- Documents surfaced at the time showing Goncalves’ face disfigured until it was unrecognizable and responding officers characterized on the murder scene as a “bloodbath.”
- “The mosquito you just can’t seem to swat. That is what Kohberger and his following have become to this family,” a post from the Goncalves family’s Facebook page read Monday, following the news that the convicted murder is withdrawing his guilty plea. “We read Mr. Baker’s story and he must be so proud of himself for speaking with Mr. Kohberger because the story didn’t have much else in it, other than a guilty man claiming he is innocent once again.”

- Couch Potatoes Vs. Pioneers: The Real Debate About Mars
In 2023, Kelly and Zach Weinersmith published a book titled A City on Mars: Can We Settle Space, Should We Settle Space, and Have We Really Thought This Through? For the Weinersmiths, concerns about colonizing Mars or other celestial bodies outweigh any potential advantages. They argue that while we might be able to think about space settlement sometime in the distant future, we are nowhere near that point yet. - Of the concerns they raise, some are worth considering, including unresolved questions as to whether humans can reproduce safely in low-gravity conditions and whether babies can develop normally in such environments. They do write, however, that the Chinese are already planning experiments in which monkeys will mate on their space station – so perhaps we will get our first answers soon.
- Many of the questions in the book, though, are far-fetched and contrived, and it is clear that the authors have adopted the common approach of intellectual worry-warts, who first want a definitive and foolproof plan that answers all conceivable questions before they will even begin to act. This stands in stark contrast to the mindset of the entrepreneur, who takes action and continuously solves new challenges as they arise.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent declared that Trump Accounts mark the “most successful launch in government history,” as enrollment has reached seven million.
Trump Accounts, officially launched on July 4th, are tax-advantaged investment accounts designed to give American children under 18 an early start on building wealth by investing directly in broad stock market index funds.
Trump Accounts aim to create “a new class of shareholders,” Bessent said at the Financial Literacy and Education Commission meeting on Monday. “American families, left on the sidelines of Wall Street for too long, will finally understand what it feels like to have a piece of the action.”
Roughly seven million children have enrolled in the program, according to Bessent—a 6.5 million increase from earlier in the month.
Bessent highlighted the importance of “great real-time learning experiences” amid a time when young adults frequently turn to social media and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for financial advice.
“Many consumers, especially younger Americans, are turning to social media, online communities, and AI for financial advice,” Bessent emphasized on Monday. “So today, we will focus on how to help them evaluate this information critically, navigate the digital marketplace safely, and make financial decisions more confidently. By meeting consumers where they are, we can ensure that financial education keeps pace with financial innovation.”
The White House celebrated the milestone in an X post on Monday.

If you’re relishing the rise of fermented cucumber these days, hold onto your gherkins. Not only are pickles clutch for charcuterie, but the brine can bring you back to life.
There’s a time and place for Kool-Aid pickles and 24-layer pickle cake (that time may be never), but standard pickle juice can help your muscles recover faster than you can say “please pass the emergency cornichons.”
This protocol played out in real time in front of nearly 70,000 people at Seattle Stadium during the World Cup. As the U.S. battled it out against Australia, field referee Felix Zwayer suddenly fell to the ground with a muscle cramp in the middle of the game. After a little stretching did nothing to quell the pain, Zwayer downed a shot of pickle juice and was back in the game.
So was it some kind of miracle pickle-lixir? More like the right minerals at exactly the right time.
Muscle cramps can happen for a variety of reasons such as holding a position too long, pinching a nerve, or straining a muscle. But when you sweat out body-balancing electrolytes during exercise, your muscles freak out. That’s where pickle juice comes in.
Pickle brine boasts concentrated amounts of potassium and sodium, both of which are essential for body function. Known as electrolytes, they serve as two key minerals that form an electric charge when mixed with body fluids, helping to regulate hydration and keep your cells nourished. Sodium and potassium, in particular, do the heavy lifting when it comes to muscle function.
Since the brine also has no protein or fat, it’s quick to digest. FIFA Official Zwayer may have chugged something similar to Pickle Juice, which reportedly goes to work in 60 seconds.
