Really quick, something I struggled with as an online producer – how to get those ingenious moments from your iPhone to your editing workstation or desktop/laptop computer? Sure, if your video is less than a minute, you’re unlikely to encounter any significant issues.
But when I attempt to transfer a vid lasting more than one minute from my iPhone, the headaches, the days seem to pass without any solution. It wasn’t this way when I first bought the iPhone, which can only mean Apple is up to its old tricks throwing monkey wrenches into my video production to try to force me to upgrade to another iPhone. Just – download the YouTube app, even if you hate YouTube as much as I do, and even if you have no intention of ever uploading your raw vid onto the Web. Do it anyway, marking it as private so nobody else can download the raw vid before you can edit it. Then simply using your wi-fi connection, use your computer to download Google’s MPG4/MPEG version of the video onto your AVID setup and go from there.

I also recommend VSDC editor for video editing; it’s a truly free app. You’ll likely be prompted at the time of video processing to pay money to buy some kind of video optimizing engine of sorts… just click “continue” and your vid should come out okay anyway. Totally free, works for most on-the-fly production needs if you can’t splurge on Adobe or AVID. It’s fairly simple and intuitive, and will likely take you a week to get going, and you’ll know everything you need to use in the program after a week of pounding the pavement with it.
